Tourist Guide Vienna

bookingspace.com-city_break-viennaIt is not surprising that Vienna ranks among the most beautiful baroque capitals in Europe. The capital of Austria is a unique destination and a center of culture and civilization. Specifically, Vienna keeps its historic style preserving all the characteristics of its glorious past and at the same time offers a unique variety of modern facilities. Hotels in Vienna could not be the exception, as they lie in perfect harmony with the baroque style surroundings, providing all modern services. During your city break in Vienna you will be amazed by its highly sophisticated atmosphere.  The city of music, operas and waltz is an alluring place with high culture and style. Particularly, being home of Strauss and accommodating some of the best operas in the world, Vienna is truly a city with music in the air. Places like the Vienna Opera House, the Burgtheater (National Theater of Vienna) and the Spanish Riding School, which is the oldest and last Riding School in the world, testify Vienna’s rich culture and tradition in fine arts. Start your city tour from Vienna’s famous Palaces, namely the Hofburg Palace, the Schönbrunn Palace and the Palace of Belvedere. The Anchor Clock, situated on the oldest square of Vienna, is another famous sight you have to see. Among your first choices should also be the famous Cathedral of St. Stephen, a fantastic Cathedral that has been considered for centuries as the heart of Vienna. St. Stephen’s Cathedral is situated in the city center and has been designated as UNESCO’s World Heritage Site. In front of the Cathedral lies the Haas House, which is one of the most exciting buildings in Vienna and the city's pride. Additionally, it is suggested that you visit the biggest Cathedral in baroque style of the Alps, namely the Cathedral of Karlskirche. Last but not least, do not forget to visit some of Vienna’s museums such as the Modern Art museum, the museum of Moderner Kunst and of course the unique museum complex of Museumsquartier, which is one of the largest and most impressive museum complexes in the world.

Lifestyle Vienna

Vienna has also a fantastic lifestyle. Dancing and “chilling” of the highest quality – after all, Vienna’s electronic music scene is world-renowned. Clubs such as Flex at the Danube Canal were selected as one of the best locations worldwide. The program there varies as much as it does at other party locations in the city, where plenty nightclubs and bars infuse a greatly vivid atmosphere into the city. There are a lot of pubs and bars for the young scene in the district quarters but you can also find a great variety of restaurants and classic Viennese coffee houses. The best thing you can say about Vienne’s wining & dining scene is that it respects established tradition without being suffocated in dreary conventionality, swiftly adapting the innovativeness of contemporary gastro culture for its own purpose. Additionally, you can find countless international dishes that vary from Vietnamese to Italian and Korean flavours. Vienna also offers many possibilities and choices for shopping. You can start shopping in the old city, discovering the abundant small shopping districts between the center and the Westbahnhof.

Transportation

Vienna has a well-developed public transport network with buses, trains, trams and underground lines which will take you almost anywhere in the city in no time at all. Night lines only operate between 0.30 am and 5 am. The Wiener Linien vehicle fleet currently consists of over 500 tramcars and almost 500 buses. Vienna public transport is part of the Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region VOR (transport association for Austria's eastern regions). Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region is split into eight zones and includes parts of Lower Austria, the Burgenland and all of Vienna. The best way to take advantage of this extensive network is the Vienna Card.
