Best Beaches Pelion

In Afissos you will also find some great sandy beaches like Abovos and Kaliftheri. On the Aegean sea of Pelion visit Mikro beach that offers refreshing cool waters, Kastri beach, Paltsi beach, the famous beach of Milopotamos, Potistika beach that offers a very peaceful and tranquil setting, Fakistra beach, Papa Nero beach, where the greenery and mountains stretch down to the sea and the golden sandy beach of Agioi Saranta that attracts a large number of visitors from all over the Pelion peninsula.
Sightseeing
There are several interesting museums and archaeological sites in and around the Pelion peninsula. Start your sightseeing from the Museum of Art Folklore that is located in the stunning "Topali Mansion" in the famous Pelion village of Makrinitsa. The mansion itself was built in 1844, and is a wonderful example of the architectural style of Pelion. Another great choice is the old school of "Rigas" (1777), or the "Greek Museum", which is located in the beautiful village of Zagora. This is actually the oldest school in all of Pelion, and was the place of study for many famous Greeks. The Aggelinis Museum is a small museum located in the charming hamlet of Horto and it is a wonderful place to visit. It is also suggested that you visit the Old Library in the beautiful village of Milies.
Visitors travelling to Pelion from south Greece and Athens will pass by a unique selection of archaeological sites on their way towards Pelion. There are several ancient archaeological sites around Pelion including those of Dimini and Sesklo. The site of Dimini, located approximately 15km from Volos, is a unique site that has provided the most complete picture of a Neolithic settlement. The impressive Neolithic settlement of Sesklo was discovered at the end of the 19th century and comprises one of the main Neolithic settlements in all of Greece, as well as the rest of Europe. Transportation
There are many ways of getting to Pelion. You can easily access the area by car from Athens or Thessaloniki following the national road. However, you can also arrive by air at the nearby airport of Anhialos, although this airport only operates during the summer season. There are also the airports in Larissa and the nearby island of Skiathos, which are very convenient, and these are flights that you should be able to find all year round. Travelling around Pelion is best done by car, as this makes it easier to explore and visit the many villages in the region. In the coastal village of Mikro, there is a sea-taxi service that takes passengers on a short trip to the neighbouring village of Platanias. Lastly, there are also bus services that do operate around the villages, but these are very limited. If you do plan to use the bus service, you should make sure you know the departure point for the buses as well as their timetables.
